Dictionary Project

The Rotary Club of Tema Meridian held a Dictionary workshop to train some deprived school children on using the dictionary as an effective learning tool. The programme was sponsored by Unimax Macmillan Limited. Unimax Macmillan provided 105 dictionaries, and notepads for the participants and the participation of the resource persons. The Club President Rtn Gloria also provided 400 readers made up of 15 titles for the school libraries. 102 pupils and 15 teachers from five schools in the Tema Municipality attended the workshop. They were lectured on how to use a dictionary, the benefits of reading and how to manage a school's library.

The Four-Way Test

In 1932, Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor created The Four-Way Test, a code of ethics adopted by Rotary 11 years later. The test, which has been translated into more than 100 languages, asks the following questions:

Of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
