PRESENTATION TO THE SISTERS OF CHARITY -DECEMBER 18, 2001

The Club in a joint effort with the sponsor club.  Rotary Club of Tema, made a presentation to the Sisters of Charity in Tema.

The Sisters of Charity is a Catholic Charity started by Mother Theresa in Calcutta.  They first set up in Ghana in Kumasi in 1988.  Their second home was set up in Tema in 1992.  The home takes cares of malnourished, abandoned children and children of AIDS victims.  They also care for terminal AIDS patients and destitutes who have been abandoned by their families. At the moment the home houses 40 children and 14 AIDS patients.

Items presented included used clothing for both the children and adults, detergents, and soap and toys.  A Christmas party was also held for inmates of the home.

The Four-Way Test

In 1932, Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor created The Four-Way Test, a code of ethics adopted by Rotary 11 years later. The test, which has been translated into more than 100 languages, asks the following questions:

Of the things we think, say or do

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
